I am excited to be in April! I have a few poetry things going on this month, including another residency at Loretto upcoming, which I will be writing about here. If you are looking for ways to celebrate National Poetry Month, check out the ideas on Poets.org.
Another poetry thing I have going on this month is leading a workshop at the library. Check out their page, too, where they have a list of poetry month goings-on.
If you’d like to follow along or are curious about what we are doing, stay tuned, and I’ll share here what we are reading and what prompts we are using. This past Thursday (March 30) was our first of five gatherings, and I put together some slides to get my ideas down. Here is the PDF file; let me know if you’d like the editable version to borrow or make your own!
I’m calling the series “Let’s Make Beautiful Stuff Together,” which is a Ross Gay reference. We read Ross Gay the first night, and I gave the assignment for the participants to write their own “Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude.” If you write one, send it to me!
I made a Bookshop list of some of the books the workshop is based on. Let me know if you are playing along or want to ask a question in the chat. Happy Poetry Month.
